HP unveils entertainment notebook

The ‘Dragon’ has all the vital desktop features

NEW DELHI: Hewlett-Packard India on Thursday launched a 20-inch-screen entertainment notebook ‘The Dragon’, HP TouchSmart personal computer and HP iPAQ 512 Voice Messenger smartphone.

Priced at Rs. 1.10 lakh onwards, the HP Pavilion HDX 2000 Series the Dragon has all the vital desktop features with the freedom of a notebook PC. It offers multimedia and is capable of high resolution and provided a complete audio experience. It has a dockable media centre remote for TV control.

Similarly, HP TouchSmart comes with a 19 inch ‘BrightView’ touchcreen and a space-saving design. It has a unique one-touch-access interface, while the ‘HP SmartCenter’ has a host of interesting applications such as the HP SmartCalendar and the HP Photosmart, besides having enhanced the storage space of 320 GB, integrated high-performance stereo speakers and microphone. It is priced at Rs.99,990 on wards.

Through the HP iPAQ 512 Voice Messenger smartphone, voice e-mail can be send, while the Voice Commander is used to read e-mails and SMS. It is loaded with host productivity boosting features like the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 with push e-mail and office applications. Priced at Rs. 14,000, it also has the built-in camera, MP3 player and Video Recorder. The company launched Pavilion Slimline s3000 series PC with many innovative features and is priced at Rs. 39,900 onwards.

Speaking at a press conference here, HP India President (Personal Systems Group) Ravi Swaminathan said: “HP has maintained a clear leadership in the Indian PC space quarter-on-quarter across categories.

The introduction of the new range will further strengthen our wide-ranging lifestyle portfolio and will help us grow the lifestyle computing market by around 50 per cent this fiscal.”

The company also plans to expand its retail footprint across 500 cities and expand the retail partner network to over 2,000 by the end of the current financial year, he added.
